Julie believes in putting people first to achieve successful and sustainable results. She has a passion for both doing the right thing and doing things right. She is a problem solver and applies common sense and logic to the process. A highly disciplined and motivated project management professional, Julie has the ability to build strong relationships which allows her to quickly adapt and understand new environments and industries. She is a strong advocate for the health & safety of organisations – their businesses and their personnel.
Julie’s experience in portfolio, programme and project management complemented by her wealth of business knowledge and experience gives her the ability to see the broader business goals and objectives to ensure solutions align with the overall organisational strategy.
Her 20 years’ experience in both central and local government as well as private enterprise enables her to move easily within the sectors contributing with knowledge and an understanding of what is required. More recently, she has contributed to the Christchurch rebuild in the post-quake environment first in establishing the Housing New Zealand’s Earthquake Recovery Office and its functionality, then with the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority. She has played a significant role in the remediation and maintenance programme for some of the city’s heritage buildings since 2015 and is adept and well-practised in managing contracts and compiling tender documents as part of the bidding process.
When she isn’t immersed in her work, Julie is the somewhat young grandmother of two girls – Ivy and Pippa and enjoys spending time with them exploring what Christchurch has to offer its youngest citizens. She is an endurance sportswoman, enduring her Irish husband’s obsession with sports. She is also proud of her achievement of Best Marksman with a 50 calibre machine gun during her brief period as an RNZ Volunteer Reservist at Pegasus in 2000.
