Millpond is a project management consultancy with a strong reputation across Canterbury for quality people and reliable delivery. Established in 2011, it has carved a niche as a boutique consultancy focusing on the personal touch for clients. The three Executive Directors have played industry leadership roles, particularly with Project Management Institute New Zealand.
Millpond owns Falcon Training, which delivers project management training throughout Australasia and the South Pacific. It has the necessary systems and intellectual property to scale up and the Directors are keen to capture this opportunity both domestically and abroad.
Millpond and Falcon Training have both experienced solid growth in recent years. The current business model works successfully and there is a strategy to expand through existing channels and complementary acquisitions. The Directors are introducing the Board Advisor role for additional expertise, to be challenged and for someone to help ensure opportunities are captured.
The successful Board Advisor will likely be based in Canterbury. They will require a strategic mindset, be action oriented, personally networked and will ideally have experience in:
- commercial growth including acquisitions,
- sales and marketing and
- the consulting industry (but not necessarily project management).
It is expected that all candidates are independent thinkers, team players, set high standards, have strong ethics and highlight conflicts.
Time Commitment, Term & Remuneration
The Advisory Board will meet in Christchurch ten times per year each lasting approximately two hours. In addition, there will be an annual strategy day and likely networking meetings. There is no set term as the role could switch to an Independent Director/Chair if Directors see business performance impact. This is a remunerated role based on benchmark rates, time commitment, the size of organisation and the Advisory role.
